Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant

Amy and I took a little time for ourselves and went on a mini vacation down to Orlando for four days. It was some time that we just needed to take. Thursday, we met with our favorite family: Elaine, Juan and the boys at their timeshare, and spent some time with them just catching up. After we left them, Amy and I decide we needed to find somewhere to eat that we hadn’t been to before. As always she pulls out her phone and looked up the top places in Orlando to eat. The one place that she found was Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, and let me tell you- it did not disappoint. Before we left the hotel, Amy had made our reservations so we would not have to wait too long as I was starving from not eating that day. When we arrived, I noticed that they had valet parking which is always great to find because their parking lot was small and very full.

As we walked into the restaurant, the first thing you come across is the winery. They were holding wine tastings, had bottles for you to purchase, along with other great items as well. We waited for our table and looked around at all the cool stuff. As we were being seated, the hostess informed us that we could tell the waitress if we would like to try a sample of any of the wines. I am not big on wine so we moved on to the food. We started off with an appetizer of egg rolls filled with chicken, black beans and corn. There were six rolls that came with three dipping sauces. They were good to start with. For the main course, Amy and I both chose the surf and turf entrees. Her entree was Parmesan encrusted filet medallions and bacon wrapped shrimp with St. Mary mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. As for myself, I ordered the Parmesan encrusted filet medallions with the soy ginger salmon, St. Mary mashed potatoes, and I wanted the roasted vegetables.

Needless to say, the service was not great at all. Unfortunately, I got the garlic green beans instead of my roasted veggies. Don’t get me wrong, the beans were great. The filet medallions were cooked perfectly and the salmon was outstanding, but that was not the first mistake the waitress had made. Amy and I both ordered drinks, and mine of course came out wrong and we had to get the manager to replace it.

But I will say this restaurant is unique and the food was excellent. I would give it a 4.8 out of 5 stars. If you happen to be in Orlando, go and check this place out.
